Apparently, Plastic Jesus, the artist who works on shocking street art, thought it was a good idea to create a life-sized sculpture of a crucified Kanye West and install it on the famed Hollywood Boulevard and La Brea Avenue in LA.
Standing tall by the Dolby Theater, which is where the Oscars will take place on Sunday, the all-gold sculpture is called "False Idol" and features matching bling and his YEEZY Boost 350 sneakers. In case you don't get a chance to see Kanye on the streets, you can check him out in Plastic Jesus' upcoming LA-based exhibit with Billy Morrison called "Anesthesia – The Art of Oblivion" this weekend.
"He's a genius at writing and producing but he's not a God, and that's where we put him," Plastic Jesus told The Hollywood Reporter. "Until there's an issue in his life or a hiccup in his career, then we crucify him." The artist credits West's outlandish behavior and statements, including the ones spouted during his recent breakdown and hospitalization . "We've seen it before with people like Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan. The same people who put him into a God-like place are the same yapping at his heels for a piece of flesh when something happens."
Plastic Jesus is the same artist behind the naked Donald Trump statues that were spotted in Seattle, New York, San Francisco, Cleveland and LA in August.
