Carlos Santana: Adele Beat Beyonce At The Grammys Because Adele Actually Can Sing

Carlos Santana initially had some harsh criticisms for Beyoncé when he discussed Adele beating her in the Album Of The Year category at the 2017 Grammys.

According to New Zealand Herald, Santana said that Bey didn't win because the 25 artist can sing. “I think Adele won because she can sing. She doesn’t bring all the dancers and props, she can just stand there and she just stood there and sang the song and that’s it, and this is why she wins,” he said.

He added that Beyoncé is more of a visual artist, than a vocalist. “With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at it’s just more like modeling kind of music– music to model a dress,” he said. “She’s not a singer, with all respect to her.”

After catching backlash because of his words, Santana later issued an apology. "I would like to clarify a comment that was reported when I was doing an interview for some upcoming shows in Australia & New Zealand. My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the [Grammys]," he posted on Facebook. "My comment about Beyoncé was regretfully taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way. I wish Beyoncé and her family all the best. Carlos."
