Yak Gotti was stabbed in jail as a jury continues to deliberate on his fate in the YSL RICO trial.
According to a report WSB-TV published on Monday, December 2, the rapper, born Deamonte Kendrick, and another inmate were attacked during a physical altercation on Sunday, December 1, inside the Fulton County Jail’s south annex in Union City, Ga. The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Kendrick was injured by someone who used a sharp object. He survived the attack and was treated for minor injuries. As of this report, the incident is under investigation and charges could be filed depending on the outcome.
“Deamonte Kendrick, also known as rapper Yak Gotti, and another jail resident were in a physical altercation on Sunday, December 1," the statement from Fulton County Sheriff’s Office says. "Kendrick received treatment for minor injuries from a sharp object at the Fulton County Jail. The incident occurred at the South Annex in Union City where both men were being housed. Kendrick will be in court today. This is an active investigation to determine the aggressor in this incident and if charges will be pending.”
Kendrick and Shannon Stillwell, who was also stabbed in jail last year, are the remaining codefendants still on trial in the Young Stoner Life case. The longest trial in Georgia history continued after Young Thug took a plea deal in October. Kendrick and Stillwell rejected plea deals and maintained their innocence. Defense attorneys and prosecutors made their closing arguments last week before the court took off for the holiday break. The jury will return to court this week to continue their deliberations. Kendrick is also expected back in court despite his recent attack.
