Losing a beloved pet is such a difficult loss. On Thursday (July 16), Ellen DeGeneres revealed her dog Wolf has passed away. She shared the sad news with her followers on Instagram with a brief, yet moving tribute to Wolf.
"Last night we had to say goodbye to our dog Wolf. He brought us so much love and joy. I hope we did the same for him," the TV show host captioned her post. She shared a photo from her 2008 wedding, showing her and wife Portia de Rossi sharing a sweet moment with their pup.
DeGeneres is a known animal lover. In addition to Wolf, she and de Rossi share multiple dogs and cats, including dogs Augie and Kid as well as cats Charlie, George, and Chairman. Their most recent addition a new rescue puppy named Mrs. Wallis Browning, which they adopted in 2019.
Many of DeGeneres' friends left supportive comments on her post. "I loved Wolf so much. You guys were such great mamas to him," Andy Lassner, producer of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, wrote. "Thinking of you and Portia during this tough time! Knowing so well your commitment to animals, we are sure that he felt your love through his life," Dian Fossey added.
Rest in peace, Wolf.
