UPDATE:

According to TMZ, Kim's misguided commentary about Kanye's slavery was a choice comment "will NOT appear in the upcoming KUWTK episode." It reportedly was "never approved for the episode, because when Kim watched it back, she realized it was inaccurate and not reflective of what happened at TMZ that day."

SMH, Kim.

In an effort to clear Kanye West's name, Kim Kardashian gave her own (misguided) interpretation of her husband's infamous slavery was a choice comment in a sneak peek of the upcoming episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. The reality star attempted to justify Ye's hurtful words by claiming he was misquoted and a victim of bad editing, despite the controversial TMZ interview being aired live at the time.

"When he gets ramped up, he can’t control what he says, he can’t let it go," she explained. "He loves being ramped up. He’s like 'I feel powerful when I’m ramped up. I don’t want to be so suppressed. Yeah, I say crazy sh*t but I’ve always said crazy sh*t. That’s why I’m Kanye.'"

"I always know what Kanye’s intentions are and what he’s trying to say, but I also know that they’re gonna write a headline and people are gonna assume that that’s exactly what you said and what you meant," she continued. "He didn’t say slavery is a choice, he was saying if you’re gonna still be enslaved for another 400 years then that’s some bullsh*t." Kim concluded: "That, as a wife, is really frustrating to see the media take everything and run with it."

Let's play the tape, shall we?

During the TMZ Live interview, filmed in May, Kanye — accompanied by conservative commentator Candace Owens — sounded off on his thoughts about African American's centuries of enslavement. "When you hear about slavery for 400 years — for 400 years? That sounds like a choice. Like, you were there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It's like we're mentally imprisoned. I like the word 'imprisoned' because slavery goes too directly to the idea of blacks ... so prison is something that unites us as one race," he said. "Blacks and whites being one race. That we're the human race." (In the words of the great NeNe Leakes: He said what he said, Kim!!!)

In response to Kim's claims of Ye being misquoted/edited badly, TMZ released the following statement: "Kim can have whatever interpretation she wants of Kanye's words. We get that. But, to say we edited him or misquoted him ... is a lie."

Despite her misguided claims about Kanye speaking about future enslavement, Kim seemed to think he said slavery was in choice in May, and took his words seriously enough back then that she admittedly rushed home to confront him immediately following his TMZ interview. "I rushed home, I was hysterically crying," she recalled to her friends Jonathan Cheban and Simon Huck in the KUWTK promo clip. "So I go home…he’s totally fine."
