Keep Fall Green! Protect Your Central Coast Says: Save Those Pumpkins!

Protect Your Central Coast Wants to Keep Fall Green: Here’s How You Can Help

As the leaves turn and pumpkins pop up on porches, there’s one thing we often forget: what happens to those pumpkins after Halloween? Most end up in the trash, but Protect Your Central Coast is on a mission to change that.

Pumpkins are 90% water and packed with nutrients, making them perfect for composting and not landfills. Tossing them in the trash contributes to methane emissions and waste but turning them into soil or animal feed helps the planet thrive.

That’s why Protect Your Central Coast launched the Green Your Halloween Contest. It’s simple:

  • Show off your creative way to reuse or compost your pumpkins.
  • Post a photo or video on Facebook or Instagram and tag @protectyourcentralcoast.

The most creative entry wins a $100 Visa Gift Card! Whether you flip your pumpkin into garden compost, feed it to farm animals, or create something fun and sustainable, your idea could inspire others to go green.

Contest ends November 15, 2025.
