one of nature’s biggest battles occurred as a family group of five Killer Whales attacked and killed a Gray Whale calf. This is the first attack of the season. The mom and calf pair of Gray Whales were on their migration north to Alaska as they passed through Monterey Bay and over the dangerous Monterey Submarine Canyon. The attack lasted 4 hours as the mother Gray Whale struggled to protect her calf from these powerful predators.
